One of NetEnt’s most eagerly awaited games for 2014 is the new Aliens slot that was announced earlier in the year at ICE. Based on the film saga of the same name it features some of the highest quality graphics we’ve even seen on a slot, and looks more like something you’d find on your xbox rather than at an online casino.
For this reason, some users may struggle to play the game on older computers or with a slow internet connection. Although if you are experiencing difficulties, you can reduce the quality of the graphics to medium or low.
The game has three levels: The Search, The Encounter and The Hive:
The Search – A standard five reel slot that has 15 paylines. Above the slot is an activity meter which keeps track of your wins. Each time you score a win you fill one block of the activity meter for each winning symbol (excluding wilds), it also adds a multiplier to the winning symbol (+ 1x for every symbol in the win). If you have a spin without a win, one symbol will be removed from the activity meter. Fill the meter and you’ll move on to…
The Encounter – Just like a scene out of an Aliens video game, the second stage see’s you moving through a corridor battling aliens. Your activity meter comes back into play and you receive one free spin for each block (along with the relevant multiplier). After each spin you’ll be attacked by an alien which you’ll need to fight off to be able to continue with the free spins. If you run out of ammo – the feature ends.
The Hive – If you make it through all of the free spins you’ll be taken to The Hive where your aim is to kill the queen. Do so (or wound her) and you’ll get a bonus payout.
Below you’ll find a video which showcases of all of these features. Now we’ll admit, the game does sound a bit complicated – and if we’re honest, it is – so the best way of experiencing it is to give it a play yourself. It’s available now at all good NetEnt casinos in both free play and real money modes.
NetEnt’s latest slot is set back in the 60’s/70’s and has a surf theme featuring illustrations of various ‘radical’ surfers. There are five main surf symbols each of which cover multiple reels, as well as wilds (a shark) and scatters (surfing man).
There are two main feature types that come with this game – some bonus payouts for filling the screen with surfers, and some free spins (featuring expanding wilds, naturally):
Surfs Up Bonus – Cover the reels with a mix of any five surfers and you’ll receive a bonus payout of 20x your bet.
Surf Team Bonus – Alternatively, if you manage to cover the screen with one of each of members the surf team, you’ll receive a massive 200x bet payout.
Free Spins – Three or more scatter symbols anywhere on the reels will award 30 free spins. During the free spins the wild symbol (shark) will expand to fill the reel if it results in a win.
The game was released on 24th March 2014 and can be found now at your favourite NetEnt powered casino – have at it, dudes!
It’s the end of the month, so it must be time for another new slot from the guys at Net Entertainment – Wonky Wabbits. The game is a 5 reel 15 payline slot with no bonus round – so everything takes place in the base game – but there are a couple of interesting features:
Duplicating Wilds – Play the game and you’ll realise very quickly that it’s all about wilds. The wild symbol (a simple ‘Wild’ logo) doesn’t appear as often as it does in most other slots, but for good reason – whenever a wild hits the screen it duplicates itself to the highest paying position. There’s one wild per reel, except on reels 2 and 4 which can be stacked with two wilds.
Pays Both Ways – We’ve seen this a few times in the past, but it’s not that common and so provides a nice bit of variety. Plus with the duplicating wilds feature, it really helps out with those big wins. If you’ve not come across it before it’s pretty simple – the slot pays both from left to right (as with most games) as well as right to left.
The highest win you can achieve in this slot would be from getting 7 wilds (one each on reels 1, 3 and 5 and two each on reels 2 and 4) plus the carrot symbol – the wilds would duplicate to make 14 wilds (almost a full screen) leaving only one space as a regular symbol. You can see this wall of wilds in the video below (although with the second highest paying symbol rather than the carrot).
The game was released on the 24th February 2014 and so is live now at all good NetEnt Casinos. We’ve also seen a bunch of free spins being dished out for this slot at various casinos, so check your inboxes and your accounts to see if you have any goodies waiting for you!
Net Entertainment have announced that a slot based on the hit/cult/just plain awesome (take your pick) film ‘Aliens’ is in the works, and should be released in April of this year (2014).
We have very little information about it, but from what we can see in the trailer the game has the feel of a first person shooter in parts (most likely as a bonus game). The few glimpses we’ve seen also suggest that this slot may be one that’s packed with features – let’s just hope that the paytable and volatility are set accordingly (we have our fingers crossed for a high variance monster).
More details will follow, but in the mean time check out the official trailer below:
NetEnt’s latest creation, Big Bang, takes place in space. But instead of being set in the future we have to go back several billion years to the start of the universe itself!
The games is a 5 reel, 25 payline slot and features a progressive multiplier that is added to your winnings. Each time you hit anything (regardless of the size of the win) your multiplier will double – starting at 1x and progressing as follows: 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, 32x. After hitting the maximum you’ll stay at that level until you have a losing spin.
Because of the progressive multipliers, this game is likely to be very high variance – with the biggest winnings coming in conjunction with the higher multipliers.
So, how easy is it to climb the ladder? We gave the game a good old try and found the hit rate to be fairly frequent, we also managed to max out the multiplier on a number of occasions. All in all this looks like a very interesting game, and one that we’re looking forward to getting to know over the coming weeks.
You’ll find the trailer for the slot below, but the game is live now in both real money and free play – so head on over to your favourite NetEnt casino to give it a try.
A month to the day after NetEnt released South Park they have another new offering. Entitled ‘Secret of the Stones’ the slot is set back in the time of the druids and has a bit of a ‘ye olde’ feel to it.
The game itself is a 5 reel, 25 payline slot featuring wilds (of course!) as well as a free spin feature. The free spins are triggered by landing three or more Scatter symbols anywhere on the screen, after which you’ll be taken to a screen filled with 20 mystical stones. Before starting the free spins you’ll get to select stones to reveal bonuses such as:
Extra Free Spins – You start off with 10, but can pick up extra ones in batches of 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10.
Multipliers – Add a multiple or two or your winnings.
Wild Symbols – Turn extra symbols (deer or owl) wild.
Wild Reels – Probably the best feature you can hope for is the ‘wild reels’ feature which will turn the whole or reel 2 or 4 wild. Get both and you’ll be in for some huge wins!
You can see the official Net Entertainment video of the slot below, or get yourself over to your favourite NetEnt casino to give it a try for yourself (the game is available now).
The hugely anticipated South Park slot has finally been released this week. So, does it live up to the hype? You bet your sweet ass it does.
For some game developers a branded slot just means slapping a set of recognisable images on an existing slot platform (for example, the Batman slots that Microgaming seem to keep churning out). But our buddies at NetEnt don’t do things by halves and the new South Park slot is literally rammed full of new features – check out their video below or read on for our mini review of the game.
The game itself is a 5 reel, 25 payline slot that features wilds symbols (including sticky wilds and blocks of wilds in various bonus games), four bonus games and three randomly activated mini-features:
The Bonus Games
To trigger a bonus game you need to land two bonus symbols on reels 3 and 4, plus a character bonus symbol on reel 5 – the character on the fifth reel will determine what bonus game you’re playing.
Cartman – Land a Cartman symbol and you’ll be transported to a park to deal with some ‘goddam hippies’. As you clear the bushes you’ll receive one of four different symbols relating to a coin win, double up, reset or a police officer. The first time the cop appears you’ll receive a warning and then second time is game over.
Kenny – In the Kenny bonus game, your whole aim is to try and navigate a busy road without getting the poor lad killer. There are three spots to choose from that will either win you some cash, multiply your winnings or will result in Kenny getting run over. Thankfully you have multiple lives before the game ends, so you can usually rack up a pretty decent win from this feature. Make it to the end of the road and you’ll receive a big fat bonus payout.
Kyle – When Kyle appears on reel 5 you’ll receive 10 free spins. Plus a series of bonus squares will appear below the reels. Everytime Ike appears on reel 5 during the free spins, Kyle will kick him onto one of the bonus squares awarding you a multiplier, extra free spins or just some good old moolah.
Stan – Land Stan and you’ll trigger a free spins round. At the start of the round a sticky wild will be added to reel 3 and will remain there for 2 spins, and additional sticky wilds can spin in during the free spins – each sticking around for 2 spins. The bonus feature continues until no sticky wins remain on the reels.
The Mini Features
In addition to the bonus games, there are also three features that will occasionally make an appearance in the game:
Terrance & Philip – When this troublesome duo appear, they’ll place three wild symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4.
Mr Hankey – The ‘Christmas Poo’ will randomly appear, dance around the reels and randomly turn squares into wilds.
Cartman – The Cartman ‘Beefcake’ feature spins a 3×3 block of wilds on reels 2, 3 and 4. You’ll always land at least one row of the wilds, and if you’re lucky you’ll hit all three for a massive payout.
Where To Play
The slot should be available now at all good NetEnt Casinos!
Another month, another new slot from the guys at NetEnt. This one’s called ‘Silent Run’ and takes place back in the sea during world war two and strongly resembles something from ‘Battleships’.
The slot itself is a 5 reel, 25 line game featuring wilds and two bonus features:
Echo Bonus – If the Echo Bonus symbol appears anywhere on reel 3 you’ll activate the Echo Bonus game. Once activated the symbol will send out a sonar signal and reveal between 2 and 5 torpedos, which you’ll then use to shoot at various ships, each of which will reveal a different win. The torpedos also come with multipliers attached to them to increase your wins.
Echo Wild – Just like the Echo Bonus, the Echo Wild will appear only on reel 3. When it does it will also send out a sonar, except this time instead of hunting for missiles it’s searching for wild symbols. Put simply, it randomly turns other symbols into wild symbols.
You can see both of the features previewed in the video below, or you can give the game a go at Betsafe – the game is available in both real and free play modes.

But be quick – this promotion ends at the end of April.

The Halls of Gods progressive jackpot has recently dropped, netting the winner a massive €6.7 million (around £5.7m / $8.4m). The lucky winner was playing at Betsson – making this yet another multi-million euro payout for the Scandinavian online gaming giant.
To celebrate adding another feather in its cap, Betsson is giving away three free spins on the slot to all of its players (new and old) – you have until Sunday to claim them so head on over to the Betsson website, log in and get spinning. The jackpot has been reset and now stands at just over €3 million – so there’s still a lot to play for and who knows, maybe you’ll be Betssons next multi-millionaire.
In the past year Betsson have paid out an incredible €36 million in jackpot wins – which represents a significant portion of NetEnt’s jackpot pools. So are Betsson players just lucky, or is it the sheer volume of players they have that tilt the jackpots in their favour?
If you fancy giving their casino a go yourself you can claim a welcome bonus worth €100 when you sign up, plus an extra 50 free spins after making your first deposit. Betsson also offer regular promotions and giveaways, as well as multiple casino tournaments every single day.
